Brian,
Kodak Professional announced to its dealers in March 2000 that Kodak
Professional will be discontinuing our KODAK HIGH SPEED INFRARED FILM
4143 (ESTAR THICK BASE), Catalog number 1713015, 25 sheets of 4x5 due to
lack of demand. Other films that we have preannounced their
discontinuance are KODAK Pan Masking Film, KODAK Commercial Film, and
KODAK PROFESSIONAL Spectrum Analysis Film No.1.
Our customers' purchasing decisions drove this action. Sales of HIE in
sheets have been steadily diminishing and had reached a level at which
we could no longer support them from a business standpoint.
Does this signal that Kodak is going to exit the black-and-white film
business? No. Kodak Professional remains committed to the
black-and-white market, as evidenced by the recent introduction of
several new products including KODAK PROFESSIONAL T400 CN Film,
warm-tone POLYMAX Fine-Art Paper, and digital black & white Paper.
Thank you for visiting our Kodak web site. If you should have any
questions on Kodak products or services, please be sure to revisit our
site as we are continually adding information to enhance our service.

Question: I would like some clairification about the rumored
discontinuation of Kodak High Speed
Infrared film. There has been discussion that this will be
discontinued. Is this fact or
rumor? If it is indeed fact, I am sure you will find a vast number of
very unsatisified
professionals and amature photographers alike! Why not slighly increase
the price rather
than discontinue. Please repond about this rumor as it is very imporant
to many of us.
Thank you,
-Brian Fulgham
