To Charles and the group,
I don't recall recent comments on small spots. It is also very difficult to
diagnose film problems without visual aids, but it sounds like the "pinhole
problem" which prompted my long dialog with Kodak personnel.
Kodak has admitted a manufacturing problem with 4x5 HSI - and to a lesser
extent on 35mm HIE- where particles from an anti-static layer migrate into
the image forming emulsion. The results are very fine, irregular "pinholes"
visible in dark parts of the negative.
Larger round spots are usually caused by air bubbles clinging to the film
during development. I never heard of calcium or condensation spots causing
"hypersensitivity". Anyhow, more sensitivity would produce dark spots on the
negs, the opposite of the voids caused by air bubbles.
