#25 vs. #29 Red Filters

George Smyth has said: " I have seen
very little difference between the #25 and #29 filter, so I save the speed and
shoot with a #25 when not going opaque."
After several years of using the #29 filter with non-IR films - Plus-X and
TechPan and SFX-200, I'm beginning to come around to the same conclusions.
For nearly all of my outdoor shoots in Ireland, I have been using the #29,
and even for some close-up stonework. But there have been times when I (for
various reasons) used my back-up #25 instead. Once I get back home, I've
found very little difference. Of course, for me, the speed thing is rarely
important (tripod, MLU, cable release - inanimate subjects). However, if I
lose, break or scratch my #29, I may not replace it,,,,just use the #25. But
for IR, I'll stick to the #87.
