Re: South West USA Trip
Dear All,
Am back after a couple of weeks under canvas in the US South West. Had a
great time although it proved rather difficult to update the www.f32.net
website as was planned.
Will be posting a blow by blow account of the trip on the f32 site in the
near future for those who may be interested.
It was all a bit of a rush getting away from the UK - was about ten minutes
down the road to the airport before remembering that all the B&W film was
sitting on a chair and dd not make it into the film cooler. Rushed back
and still managed to leave behind the 4x5 HSI, luckily it was still in the
freezer so was not trashed.
So all infrared shots were using Konica IR750 in 120 format. Used about 17
rolls in 6x7 and am looking forward to a big developing and printing
session soon. Bracketed more than usual because of the altitude - approx
6000 feet for many of the shots.
Have loads of 4x5 Velvia/Provia and Ilford Delta100/FP4 out of which there
are ten failures and five expected. The unexpected failures were due to
light leaks.
Managed to meet up with a couple of people but no IR list members. Was
running behind schedule towards the end of the shoot so made a dash for
Sedona after the Canyon de Chelly. After a night in the forest took route
66 before heading out to the desert again.
Did chat to a few truckers on the CB but there were no photographers
calling in on the 7pm monitoring times. One chap joined me for a few days
so the CBs were useful when hiking around various locations and looking for
the best shots.
Anyway, could have spent two months rather than two weeks. Shooting mainly
4x5 slowed down the creative process but resulted in some very satisfying
images.
As for the infrared, when I have recovered from the jet lag then hope to
have some rather special photos to print.
Will be sprinkling a few of the photos on the f32 website - hopefully these
will include some of the trannies.
All the best,
Clive http://www.cocam.co.uk
