Re: Experiences with the daylight safe HIE

There's really nothing unusual to report on this bulk loaded film. Except
for the fact that you can load it in daylight, and it's cheaper than buying
it through the store, it is no different than the regular Kodak 35mm B&W IR
emulsion. The important thing is that I use a canister with IR opque felts
in combination with a film leader. Using just a film leader won't do the
job. My bulk loaded EIR seems to be selling quite well, but HIE sales are
slow. Probably has to do with the incredible savings by buing bulk loaded
EIR and the fact that people tend to stock pile HIE in the freezer like it
was a wartime necessity.

Peace,

I was referring to the HIE offered on the list a few weeks ago. The
vendor buys HIE in bulk and splices exposed film on the ends to help
achieve a light tight seal on the cannister.
