Re: New to EIR II

Yes, you have to load the film in total darkness. At least that's what
Kodak says, and it's always better to be on the safe side.

Before you do serious work, I would strongly recommend shooting a test
roll (maybe of some interesting subject next to where you live). EIR has
a somewhat narrower exposure latitude than HIE. Minor changes of +/- 0.5
stops already can make a big difference in the final image. For the
beginning I'd suggest a bracket over at least +/- 1 aperture stops
around your meter reading, preferably in steps of 0.5 aperture stops. Of
course EIR is not cheap, but some testing will save you a lot of
frustration about that ruined once in your life shot...:-)

Definitely yes. Above all you have to tell them, that they MUST turn off
any IR LEDs within the processor before developing the film. You should
also tape the lid to the film container to prevent them from carelessly
opening it in the light. If they're unsure whether they can process the
film, you'd better ask another lab - EIR is too expensive to be wasted
on processing tests...
Good luck,
Eckhard
