Actually, I do this always, too, with 12 sheets, except I go to the hardware
store and get some of that non-metal screen material (plastic screening?)
that you can buy by the inch, and i cut 4x5 pieces of it, sandwich a
negative on either side with of course emulsion facing outward, and it works
great. The negatives don't stick to each other and there is space between
them. This was a method developed by my photo teacher Rudi Dietrich that
was published in some magazine a while back...
