Re: Minolta AF and IR
AFAIK Minolta never used IR sensors for counting the sprocket holes. So
this shouldn't be a problem.
Minolta backplates however may cause some difficulties. For some time I
used a Dynax 600si with HIE myself. There were two rectangular holes in
the backplate (presumably for some LEDs), which caused areas of less
density on the negs. After I had put some plastic foil over the
backplate, the camera worked quite well with IR films, although the foil
over the backplate increased the risk of scratching the film :-(.
Another "problem" was that the AF of the 600si didn't work with very
dark filters like Wratten #87. But maybe only some Nikons offer this
special feature anyway... With a Wratten #25 the body worked just fine -
much better than the EOS 500N, that I sometimes used for Konica IR...
In the end only a test roll can tell you, if your camera is suitable for
IR. Why not just give it a try?
