I too use a Mamiya 7 with the panoramic adaptor, which
I specificlly purchased for doing infrared panos. The camera
works great, I put a sheet of polaroid film over the pressure
plate rivets after getting some frightening round apparitions
on some shots of the pyramids in Egypt. I use a 23 as my main
filter and set the camera's meter at 32ASA because the Mamiya
seven does not meter through the lens. You should see if
you can rent an M7 from a pro photo house in your area with a
pano adapter, take it for a spin and if you get past the loading
in the dark issue I think you'll like it. I have found that I can rent
any lens I don't have and that makes the M7 very versatile. I bought
a glass 4x5 holder for my enlarger and taped off the edges for
printing my work because of the film curl issue.
I think the late model Mamiya 6 had a pano adaptor right before it
was superseded by the Mamiya 7 and that setup might be available
cheap/used.
