Hello Ibrahim,
Have you ever tried to add a wetting agent to the developer to minimise
adhesion of air bubbles to the film surface?
In the past i added about 1 ml of wetting agent per liter developer. I found
it made no difference in quality of development. This was to be expected
since the manufacturer staded it could be used for this application.
after a while i stopped using the wetting agend and have never found an air
bubble. I merely used it because i had little experience with developing and
wanted to take no risk.
I never thought of it until i read your mail and tought that if he has
trouble with air bubbles this might be a solution.
Befor you start buying a wetting agent.... (usually a non ionic surfractant)
i chould mension that most liquid dishwasher products (not the type you use
for machines) are 99% the same. In fact i have used it in my developer (just
added a drop to the developer)when i was out of wetting agend and did not
see any difference or had any problems. So why not add a drop or two of
dischwasher to the developer next time and see what happens?
Greeting from the netherlands

Onderwerp: Ilford Ilfotec HC and HIE Results
Hi everybody,
I have tested Ilford Ilfotec HC and HIE with majorly #29 where ASA was set
to 640 and measured thru the filter. I developed 5 min 45 sec for 20.5 deg
with 1+31 dilution. This developer seems to have similiar characteristics
with HC110. The negatives are better than D76 but seems to be little
overdeveloped (somewhat 0.5 stops). I again have whitespots. I did prewet
and used deminarilized water for dilution. The number of spots to be lesser
than D76, but they exist. I decided that I can not give the desicion that
this is due to manifacturing so I decided that this is due to air bubbles. I
will try to follow strickly air bubble procedures.
With 1+31 which coresponds to dil B to HC110, the time is somewhat short.
Would you believe if the time is doubled with x dilution so that air bubbles
be lesser?
Regards,
İbrahim
