Detail in IR highlights

Just wondering what all of your opinions on this might be. Regarding detail in
the highlights of an IR image, just how much do you all feel should be there for
it to be a "technicaly" good image. I ask because I have been considering
entering some of mine in competitions but IMO the highlights are way blown out
in some, does this matter in IR?
