Now there's a useful place for an IR filter ;-) It wouldn't worry me that
I couldn't see through the lens since I don't look through it anyway for
these panoramas (you shoot everything so there's no need for
framing). Catch is you have to remember to check the focus and make sure
the lens is clean. Shot a few panoramas focussed at 30cm
before... doesn't work too well. I'll try this out later with Kodak film.

Definitely not that. I normally use the full image as well to select
control points for aligning the images and I would have noticed that much
cut off

OK, now I'm drooling. I've produced a partial panorama using my SWC and
love the extra quality of medium format. 4kgs is a bit heavy for hiking
though but a circular fisheye definitely makes these panoramas easier to
shoot and put together. I've considered the 30mm blad lens but it's a wee
bit expensive to get new.
