Am guessing that you are referring to a 35mm format lens also called
an Arsat that is 20mm in focal length? If so, then I have no
experience of the lens, however the quality of Russian optics
compares well with Japanese offerings and in some cases exceeds them
in terms of build quality and resolution.
Remember that a lot of the Eastern bloc optics are actually made by
Zeiss, that is, the half of the optics works which remained in the
East after Germany was divided. There were disputes some time ago
about the use of the name Zeiss on Eastern bloc lenses. Lenses were
named Zeiss Jena for a while and then simply Jena.
It is ironic that some lenses from the Eastern bloc costing hundreds
of dollars rival those produced in the West costing thousands of
dollars......
I have no doubt that the Arsat 30mm is a fine lens.
