Huh?
If your first try was "at least 4 stops underexposed" why did you add only
one stop for your second try?!?!

Well, I think:
1. Your exposure series was a little unsystematic.
2. The #87 is a little too strong, esp. if you want to stop
   down for large DOF without having to use extreme exposure
   times. Use a #89 or R72 instead.
