EIR through AR-5
I have just received a set of EIR slides films back from Argentums (London,
UK) AR-5 processing and they are very good in deed.
When I spoke to them in the first place they said it was exactly AR-5, they
then said it was actually their recipe but did give good results. Although
the photo's are (once again) not normal to the list (pigments painted on
paper this time) the difference in processing was amazing. They were done
as a test with wratten 12 and 15 filters and E6 and AR5 processing.
In summary (under flash anyway) my opinion is still use a Wratten 15 with
E-6 processing and rate the film at 320 asa. But if you are going to try
AR-5 use a wratten 12 and rate your film at 100 asa. Although they do
charge 15GBP for the AR-5 processing the films came back within the week and
the range in colours and tonality of the slides does no even compare with
E6. The colours lack the very saturated look of the E6's but there is a
much wider range of colours recorded in the film and in my opinion would
give better ciba's due to the lower contrast level.
If anyone would like any more info on the results or my opinions let me
know.
Now all I need is some days of white fluffy clouds over a weekend to try
this out side ;-)
