I think that what you are saying is that the far field appears bluish
white near the center but maybe yellowish near the perimeter. The near
field may have a somewhat different color distribution. 

I have seen this also in some white LEDs. But some brands are much more
consistent in whiteness, albeit a bluish white. The bluish white is
often called cool white.

Some white LEDs, like those sold by DigiKey, appear more like a tungsten
filament white. They call it warm or soft white.
