Hello John,
I am not sure what you mean by crossed cylinders.
You could probably use a sphere to begin with. If the single LED per eye
is too much light and you want to spread the LED image out horizontally
then you could use a weak negative or positive cylinder, stacked close
to the sphere, to do that.
If the single LED per eye is not enough light or just enough light then
you should not spread it out. You should add more LEDs horizontally.
I have yet to hear anybody complain that a viewer is too bright. I don't
think I have even heard anybody on this list say that they don't want
more light. Still, there is a first time for everything.
