Pyro is short for Pyrogallol and is not something you'd want to use as a
mouthwash. I've used it strictly for negative processing only, and is a
special process used only by fanatics and those bent on suicide. It was
used over 100 years ago by those who survived sniffing mercury vapors when
daguerreotypes went out of style.

I use it cause I like it, but standard HC110 negs in medium format stereo
are nice as well.

Regarding B&W direct positive processes, I don't use them for three
reasons: the processing takes too long and is somewhat costly to do
yourself, nobody local can do it for me, and the Scala option is even more
expensive and slow to get results. When I can get 1 hour B&W slides for a
price compatible to color film, I'll be the first to switch!
