  It has the standard Euorpean 3/8"
thread rather than the more common
(to us) 1/4-20 thread.

  A well stocked camera store should
have 3/8 to 1/4 adapters. Either as
a little piece that fits inside the
hole or as a bigger knob type adapter
with a 1/4-20 hole in the bottom.
