What ever you decide to do with your Sputnik regarding modifications,
don't let that stop you from using it now.
I just got back from a business trip to Orlando. I shot 5 rolls of
film at Disney and other places that I'll see later today (one of the
advantages of NYC, 2 hour E-6 processing for 35mm, 120 and 4x5 film).
I haven't modified my camera yet (waiting for the RMM fix up kit to be
released, hint, hint) other than taping a hardware store circular
bubble level to the top. I used to keep black yarn in the light trap
(never got around to gluing it), but that was too much trouble. If
you're careful about how you use it (keep it in a camera bag except
when shooting to avoid possible light leaks, use a tripod if at all
possible, don't shoot into a bright light) you can get really good
images.
By the way, while going to Epcot one day my wife and I ran into a
gentleman with a Viewmaster camera, who also had a Sputnik (although I
don't think he had it with him) and other stero cameras. We jumped on
the parking lot tram before I got his name. Anyone else on the list
visit Epcot a couple of weekends ago?
