Hello all
As Paul suggested let me introduce myself, sorry for the delay I was off
to Boston in my Tatra 87 (for those of you that are car buffs). I have
been shooting stereo for a few years first with a Realist and then I
bought a Balplasca. The European (7) format I like much better and the
Tessar lenses are very sharp, especially stopped down to f8 or more. I
just graduated to medium format when I acquired a Rolleioscop which is
an old Rollei triple lens reflex. The camera is very old I think 1923
or so, the lenses are uncoated Tessars but is it sharp. The higher
contrast modern film handle any light reflection between the elements
that tends to reduce the overall contrast by increasing the base plus
fog. I shoot with the new Fuji Provia F which is stunning, sharp and no
grain that I can see with my viewer. I took it on a recent holiday to
Egypt and shot about 20 rolls, lots of mounting, but this is the country
for stereo photography. I find the mounting easier in MF than the 35
and the image quality is much much better, so I'm sticking with MF for
stereo work. I have just learned to cross eye image the pairs so now I
can even proof my MF shots without mounting them. I learned free
viewing years ago when I worked with stereo pairs in the forestry for
navigation. Funny thing how my brain tells me the scenes are smaller in
cross eye than free viewing. Does this happen with everyone?
That all for now
