[MF3D.FORUM:564] Large Format Stereo

For those interested in large format stereo (or at least extremely long
baseline stereo):
There is a very interesting NASA project named STEREO (Solar TErrestrial
RElations Observatory). Twin spacecraft scheduled to be launched in
2004 will follow Earth's orbit around the sun, with one leading and the
other lagging, collecting data to determine the 3-D structure and
dynamics of the sun's coronal mass ejections (CMEs). A terrific
document describing the project is available in pdf or HTML format the
the web site:
 http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/SEC/STEREO.html
This paper includes nice sections on "Making the Best Use of STEREO
Images", "Visual Evaluation of Stereo Images", and "What is the Optimum
Angular Spacing Between the Two Spacecraft?". Not exactly MF stereo
photography, but fascinating reading.
