I don't know what "wrong deviation" means, Don.

Deviation itself is simply the measurement of the stereo information 
in a given pair.  Unless the measurement was faulty, I can't see how 
it could be "wrong."

On the other hand, you might be saying that you routinely shoot with 
more or less deviation than what someone else says you should. 
That's different.

Many people misunderstand what MAOFD is.  (Some people have made a 
hobby of misunderstanding MAOFD.)  This elegant formula simply shows 
what near and far points will result in a given on-film deviation. 
Of course, this is useful for people who want to limit the amount of 
stereo information in their slides.  That's all there is to MAOFD.

But the formula doesn't define a "wrong deviation."  When *you* use 
the formula, *you* define what the maximum deviation in *your* slides 
should be.
