Hi Oleg:

I am glad to see the message you sent me about the Pentax 6X7. Also glad to
know that you have a system similar to mine. Yes, I am the same Kevin Chou
that you see in the Oakland Camera Club once a month (well, I missed a couple
of meetings lately, the date of that last July meeting I was still in my
China vacation).

Before I jump in with both feet for MF-3D, I have been doing some research to
build a usable 6X7 viewer first. One simple way is to use the vintage card
viewer's prismatic glasses, but their optical quality are not up to par with
what I want. Do you know who made the best card viewer in the old days? The
second choice was to buy a large pair of achromats from Edmund that can cover
the 6X7 area. The price is almost $100 each (too high for me).

Since I am a collector of old Kodak folders, amount them, I found a pair of
Kodak 3A Autographic cameras might just meet the need. I took the front and
back elements out, eliminated the shutter in between, and combined them as
one unit (3 elements in two groups). It covered the 6X7 area quite nicely,
and it looks good conner to conner with undetectable edge distortion.

I am going to start my building block from here. First to shoot some 120
black and white negs with the Pentax, I can develop the film myself anytime,
just to try out the different stereo bases, and the mounting methods. I have
come to the conclusion that I might have to make my own mounts to fit my own
viewer.

Please let me know if you have some better ways. By the way, I like the
composition in most of your 35mm 3D slides that showed in the club meetings.

Kevin
