I think that's one of many reasons I prefer storage
pages for my Realist slides.  But I could see using
individual protectors for MF stereo.

He does espouse that theory, but in his absence
I'll also point out that he mounts his best work
in glass.  So using protectors for your best MF
slides would not, IMO, be inconsistent with the
DrT philosophy.
