Tony,

I play with the Seagull when it 1st came out, about 10-15 years ago, at
that time I did not think, the lens is sharp enough for any good
photography work. We used to joke about it. I  guess they improve the
sharpness of the lens. But I will still use my Hass. to be on the safe
side.
