I too am on a group (well 2 groups) on www.egroups.com.  It is very good.  
Takes just a little to  get the knack.  Very nice thing about it is that you 
can elect to get all e-mail's once a day in one file, or once a week or elect 
not to get e-mailed directly but to go to the site and read the e-mail's as 
web postings.  I believe there is no charge for the service because they have 
banner advertising.  Thing is you never see the advertising (atleast I can 
tune it out completely - not a bother at all)
