The winder is really easy to disassemble.  Just take off that big screw on
top, which will uncover a big spring.  That spring's job is to keep the
film moving in one direction only.  You might put a single drop of oil on
this spring so that it slips a little easier.

You could also pull it apart, clean off the old whale oil with naptha, and
relube it with grease.  That's a better solution, but a bit more work.

This is an easy thing to work on.  There are no surprises, nothing scary
inside. It's just four big parts.  I shot several rolls this weekend, and
winding was no problem at all.
