If it bothers you then you can do what I do to
make a smaller opening. Use the fronts from 40x50
and 50x40 mount together to get a 40x40mm opening.
Or use two rears to get 42x42mm openings.

You do have to blacken the inside of the mounts
or the uncovered film chip (seen from the front)
will be too visible and the single thickness cardboard
will pass too much light.

I just use a black "jiffy" marker and let the
archival gods do what they may :)

I've posted 3 photos of the Heidoscop on my web page:

And if anyone is interested in seeing a very early stereo camera, this is my wet-plate sliding box stereo camera that dates to the early 1850's.

Cool cameras. I like the sliding box mechanism
(having the rear move). The wide(r) shots from the
Heidoscop should work nice with a wide angle viewer
like Don Lopps, or my brother's 50mm FL double achromat
viewer.

Also at the Vancouver show was Don Lopp, it was good to see him back out to the shows after his long bout with back trouble. He brought along some excellent slides to show off taken with his Rolleidoscop.
Anyone going to be at the Puyallup WA show on the 24th?

Glad to hear that Don is feeling better.
