Having had experience with expos of traveling slides, the only way to
really protect one's slides is to send duplicates. You have to assume
these will be handled and will be placed in and out of viewers. I know of
no optically clear protective material, though you might consider
experimenting by gluing a thin mylar protector over a King's Inn mount.
Problems from condensation? I don't know. However, slides WILL be
handled, maybe even by children. So... figure people will do their best
to be careful, but don't submit anything you can't stand to lose, or have
damaged. Sending in a slide doesn't make its welfare the responsibility of
the expo organizer, it remains the responsibility of the submitter,
because one always has the choice not to submit a slide...
