I used two types of flock paper. One was pre-gummed with a 
protective backing that was pulled off prior to installation.
The other had no gum at all and I used COPYDEX on both surfaces 
left to dry and then put the paper down. This is a very firm join if 
you can buy COPYDEX over there. Carpet fitters use it and it is 
white before it drys.
Another method that I have tried, with some success, was to 
GENTLY abraid the shiny surface with very fine emery paper.
This does need a great deal of care, but is very effective.
