I already do this on my lubitels, not because of potential light leaks, but
because the damned doors can pop open unexpectedly. Personally, I found
this to be irritating. The protection against light leaks is only an added
benefit.
I never found the tape to be a problem, I would usually just peel it off,
stick it to the camera back, and reapply the same piece after the camera is
loaded. Never got gooey. I keep a roll in my camera vest just in case.
