The Rolls of MF Stereo
Hi Guys,
I just got my hands on the cream-of-the-crop stereo camera, the one and only
Rolleidoscop. Man, what a work of art! Unfortunately I just borrowed it for
a while, as it's the one I had bought last summer for my Boss in Texas and
it's the first time I'd actually seem it.
This one's in good shape and the Tessars are flawless. I love the little
bubble level inside the viewfinder. Speeds of 1-300th plus B and Z ( I
guess the Z is for pressing the shutter, catch a few ZZZZs and then click it
again for long night shots). One thing I was surprised to find is something
I did with my Stereo Pro but was afraid to admit: The inside is lined with
velvet to reduce reflections. I did it but was worried I'd find little fibre
impressions on my images, which I haven't yet. Ain't it amazing that one
Country can produce such a masterpiece of technical achievement, while the
Guys next door could only produce a Sputnik? I'm not Commie-bashing here, I
still think the Belplasca is the best vintage 35mm stereo camera around.
Well, hopefully I'll get a chance to throw a roll though it this weekend.
(and hopefully there will be a folio for me to show the results!!!!!)
BTW, has there been talk of an all-member folio? Basically something that
could go around to all interested MFers, but only one image per participant?
No sheets, no webpage, no big deal, just a quickie tour for those who don't
have much to show but like to see (voyeurs I guess).
Gotta get back to the books,
Sam
