Horizon 4x loupe review

Hi gang,

I got my loupe this morning. The bad news
is that it doesn't have nearly enough coverage
to use as a MF stereo viewer lens. The square
base is roughly 2x2" and that is all you can see
with it. There is no extra coverage to see into
the corners.

The lens (clear aperture) is 29mm and it seems
to be quite sharp except at the very edges. The
AR coating appears first rate (pale green and
purple reflections like a good camera lens.

The housing for the lens is metal but the
remainder is made from a hard plastic. Comes
with interchangable black and clear skirts for
looking at slides and prints. The focusing works
but is somewhat wobbly and feels cheap (scratchy
plastic on plastic). Overall it looks exactly as good
as you would expect from a $40 Russian loupe.

It does appear that it will work fine for my
intended use as a chimney finder on my Bronica.
So I'm happy.

Greg
