Haven't tried it but heres a few thoughts. In
portrait orientation the images are narrow enough
that you can view them normally side by side. I'm
not sure what you would mount them in but a pair
of 30-40mm diameter by 80-100mm focal length lenses
(achromats preferable) would give you a good view
of the slides.
For landscape orientation the images are going
to be separated by more than your eye spacing. Thus
you need lenses with prism (like old stereoscope
lenses) to allow you to view them without diverging
your eyes. If you have large enough diameter lenses
you can just place them wider than the image spacing
which will allow you to view without diverging.
Alternately there is the Greenhouse method of using
mirrors.
