We've discussed this before, but resolution
measurements only mean anything for the plane
of focus. Everything else in the scene is limited
by the COCs (circles of confusion).
So I can picture (no pun) many photos where
f32 is a big gain even if my lines/mm drops way
down at the plane of focus. For example an outdoor
scene focused at the hyperfocal point. There isn't
anything of specific interest at the plane of focus.
The depth of the scene is what is of interest. So
having infinity and the near object sharper by
using f32 is worthwhile.
