1st, I know very very little about optics and testing
lenses.
2nd, this is a shot in the dark idea (so don't laugh
too hard if it doesn't make any sense)

Instead of using a test slide, could one take a couple
of those laser pointers (just mentioned in the previous
post for focusing), tape them together side-by-side and
shine them through the lense back to project onto a
wall? Then measure the distance between the two spots?
