[MF3D.FORUM:1244] MF3D Projection

Interesting discussion (fortunately no math has popped up yet!)
My concerns about MF3D projection are a little different. I would expect
the amount of light for projection would be reasonably intense, even though
the magnification would not be as great as in 35mm. Mounts unsupported with
glass would have very little support at all, so when the slide heats up the
film would in turn start bowing out from the center and render part of the
image out of focus. Glass support would be better but give you 4 extra (or
8 extra) surfaces for dust to adhere to.
Next question: What kind of mounts would be used for MF Stereo Projection?
Would you have to remove all your slides from the MF Spicer mounts and
place them in Gepe mounts? Doesn't seem worthwhile risk to me, as you'd
have to go back to the Spicers for handheld viewer viewing.
Then comes the final problem. The risk to your MF originals just for the
pleasure of viewing through projection seems very high. With 35 it is very
easy to make dupes, but no so for MF. It's a pain in the ass to get good
quality MF dupes, as it's both very expensive and not always a good
rendition of the original.
So is it ever really worth it? I think I'd rather supply and audience with
individual cheap MF viewers than go through the hassle of MF projection!
