I received email feedback from one person. We had a
nice conversation about the background of the photo.
I had half intended to post some comments to the list
but never got around to it. So how about now?
---
I really enjoyed David Lee's hyper shots but they all
seemed to cause me eyestrain. Too much deviation I think
but didn't measure. Beautiful though.
The cave photos were way cool even though they were
very soft. I'd love to see some super sharp ones.
I really enjoyed the bronze statue of a woman sitting on
a swing. Very well done.
I also enjoyed the shot(s) taken with the swing lens
camera. I recall the house one but think there was another
one.
Sam's and Bob's photos I had seen in my folio and got
to enjoy them again. Don Lopp's weren't his absolute best
but the silver falls one is awesome. Someone else had
a cottony water shot I really liked. I'm a sucker for water
falls and rapids shots. Maybe because we don't have any
here in Saskatchewan :)
That's all I recall right now. No insult is intended by omitting
your photos. I just can't recall. I was glad to be a part of
the Expo and getting to see the slides and Saturn Slide viewer.
As expected the SS viewer nose slot was too small for me.
But from looking at it I could see that there was room for enlarging
it somewhat and radiusing the edges to lessen the impact on my
bony nose. So I might have to get one of these someday. Finding
time for building and finishing a kit could be problem given my
exciting new (sometimes) high pressure job. And the fact that Dawn
and I are expecting our third child at the end of July. I still think
about 3d a lot, even if I don't seem to get around to doing any.
I do have plans to send my vacation Scala rolls to Toronto, finally,
to get developed. Money is still tight so I never did put the deposit
on the RBT S1. I'd still love to have one for snapshots of the family.
It may even happen if PMC-Sierra's stock (PMCS) keeps climbing
like it did this week.
I viewed most of the slides with my viewer, for nose comfort, and
I found the SS lighting to be too bright, except for the few slides that
were too thick to fit into my viewer. Those I viewed in the SS.
I liked the opaqueness of the new white mounts and loved the look
of the black ones. I will definitely buy some when they become
available. The sleeves look like something worthwhile so I'll
have to get some of those too.
You guys don't talk 3d enough without me. So I'll mention that I
still haven't gotten around to gutting the broken Pentax ME Sam
gave me. The plan there was to use two electromagnetically tripped
shutters behind a MF stereo cameras lenses to get perfect sync without
mechanical linkages.
Hmmm, I really should get back into doing 3d. Talking about building
stereo cameras is getting me excited (in a non-sexual way :)
Happy 3ding - Greg E.
