I see that Delta (makers of the best silver mylar tape) also 
sell a double-face photo tape with rubber resin adhesive 
(product #30510). It comes in a 3/4"x36 yard roll. I have 
never seen or used it, but perhaps this might work well. Their 
literature claims it is "Ideal for splicing, mounting, 
holding, laminating and fastening all photo material. (70 oz 
PSI) Mil Spec. UU-T-91d Type II."

Maybe RMM could get some in for us to try?
