[MF3D.FORUM:1676] Old Member Introduction

I guess it is my turn for an introduction.

I started in photography (flat) when I was 13 (now 44) and
living in Japan (Air Force father) where camera equipment was
inexpensive.

My first real exposure to stereo was a Nimslo bought from a
liquidator in the mid 1980's. I had four or five rolls of
lenticular prints done and then lost interest because of cost
and turn around time.

About five years ago a friend showed me some of his stereo
cave images (slides from a Wollensak) and I was hooked. Later
that year my wife surprised me with an Owla and Delta viewer.
>From there it was on to a 3.5 Realist, then a 2.8 German lens
Realist, and finally an RBTX3A with the Macro Attachment.
Macro stereo is my greatest passion.

I became really proficient at mounting and started doing
workshops and tutorials using the RBT jig to Spicer mount
method. I even went so far as to offer to mount other people's
images. I have done quite a bit of that as well as mounting MF
in Spicer mounts for others. I must admit that the latter was
done as a way to see MF images as I didn't have a MF camera of
my own.

Last summer I was loaned a modified Sputnik and have been
learning all its "features". I hope to get a lot of cave
images shot this summer in anticipation of showing them at the
MF Show at the NSA Convention. This is quite a difficult
undertaking as the Spud needs to be shot at f11 or smaller to
get sharp images. That translates to a whole lotta light in a
cave!

I hope to move on to a better MF rig someday. I just need to
pay off the second mortage that bought the RBT first. If only
I could have a MF Macro Stereo for shooting live, moving
subjects! A setup like the RBT Macro would work great - just
need to have two MF cameras at the other end.
