Roundshot memory 3.07 chip

I'm about to change the memory chip in the Super 35 Roundshot.  The
instructions seem clear enough.  The instructions recommend you write
down all the values of lenses programed in, along with parameter values
etc....
I was happy to see that the chip came with a new instruction manual. 
Has anyone had experience in changing this memory chip????  Any problems
associated with taking the control unit apart????
