"Jap" can also simply be a non-derogatory abbreviation for the word
"Japanese".  e.g. Amer. or Mex or HK or UK.  It is a matter of the
intention behind it.  This is a sensitive thing.  I would be very sad if I
was accused of being racist so make no mistake- back up an accusation with
evidence of intention before potentially damaging someone's rep.  Although
your concern is nice to see Mr. Bass, why not send a personal mail to Mr.
Maxey so that this forum can remain a panoramic focused on panoramic issues
and so that if your accusation is unverified you don't potentially damage
someone.
