Thank you all for responding to my questions about the Horizon. It appears
that this is an active list with knowledgeable and friendly folks.
I bought this camera with the right to return in 30 days with a 15% restock
charge. To me, it's sort of like a rental if it didn't work out...or it
broke. I had very carefully determined my needs based on regular imaging,
i.e. shutter speeds and maximum initial aperture, since I shoot a lot of low
light. I can't imagine having the same feature set in any other camera
under $2,500 as I get in the Horizon.
Most important to me is image quality, and, other than a band of slight
unsharpness along the top 1/6 of the image (where subject matter is
mid-field), I am absolutely blown away by the image quality I get with
fine-grain B&W film and the camera on tripod. I ran a roll of film through
the camera today, shooting with the camera upside-down just to make sure the
unsharpness was a function of some residual field curvature in the lens
rather than a bad lens. I suspect the former since it seems to disappear at
some distances/apertures (though I haven't yet figured out which yet).
Regards,
Curt
