Re: Big B&W Film
>>I've heard of others doing the roller type before. What relationship
to regular times did you end up with? and do you go back and forth or
slooooooowly through one and the next, etc? And how did you agitate
the 5' tanks?
The Linhof Tank was a Deluxe version and had a governor to limit speed to a
point. You could still under crank to a point, but it was hard. The
developing time was dependent upon the temperature, developer and film.
As far as agitation in the Deep Tanks, the film was clipped to a hanger and
then a weight was attached to the bottom of the film. Every minute the rack
was lifted and then lowered until development was complete. I loved this
system and I should have grabbed the tanks before the business closed up.
They were custom made and glazed at the manufacturer. Incidentally, I
almost never had a problem with this system and developed thousands of
rolls of film of all types this way. It was easy to use, maintain and
worked extremely well. BTW: The tanks were manufactured at the turn of the
century and were used on a daily basis until 1985 or so.
