Just about any old El Cheapo tripod already has the pan feature built in. Why buy an other? To be able to put the lens over the nodal point? Instead of buying an other head, buy a used micro focusing rail. They will let you put the lens right on the nodal point and that don't cost $200.

If you must buy a special pan head then I would recomend the one from Jasper Engineering. It is designed for lenses from 50 to 110mm and costs just $95.

On my Bogen I use the head #3028. It has the degree markings and enough ajustment for me to get my lens close to, if not right on the nodal point. As I remember the head cost about $40.

Subject: Panoramic Tripod heads

I am looking for recommendations for a tripod to use.

I am an amateur and have a Canon 35mm and will be compositing multiple shots with PhotoShop.
My problem is I need recommendations for a head for my Bogen tripod.  I would like to keep the total price in the US$100 to US$200 range.

Thanks in advance for your help
