FYI: There are a couple of Law firms in California that are doing this very
thing - going after others who use images without permission. It is
becoming big law business. Their strategy is suing you, in their state,
forcing you into a corner. It is not a case where you go to them, it is a
case where they seek out opportunities to make a buck.

So, if I use your photographs to promote my products, you would consider it
a "complement"? There goes you right to sue for damages, since you consider
improper use a 'complement.'
