Panorama shots with HP Photosmart scanner

Dear all,

I recall that somebody has modified the HP scanner 
software so it can scan longer negatives too.
I just got the scanner and would badly need that patch.

Any hint where can I get it or who was that person?
Has anybody tried to use the modofication?
