Greetings from sunny Orkney!

The setting sun illuminates the inside of the magnificent chambered
cairn of Maeshowe, in Orkney every midwinter. Victor Reijs and Charles
Tait last year collaborated to do the first ever live Internet broadcast
from a 5,000 year old building.

This year they are repeating the broadcast, but with better equipment
and telephone lines. Today the equipment was set up on site, and a very

successful broadcast was made of the sunset, including the "flashing"
phenomenon.

We will be running this broadcast through to January 1999. Given clear
skies we will be broadcasting every day from about 14:30 GMT to
15:30 GMT. Around the shortest day the time to watch is from about
14:40 GMT.
