Oddly enough the slits on both my 1/500s models (one official, one
non-official but technically capable of 1/500s) are machined
fine....haven't seen any streaking either.
Did you check whether the shutter is closed on rewind/recocking?
The problem of the shutter not closing is somewhat depending on
shutter time, it might be that you are confusing a non-closing
shutter for slit-irregularities.
